PURIFICATION
Varanasi, India

In March 2020 various field recordings on the river Ganga were collected reflecting the reverence of spirituality in Hinduism. Further research of the sacred site revealed horrific facts of pollution of the holy river.

Research and development of the project ‘Purification’
What captures the dichotomy between the sacred reverence for the Ganga in Hindu beliefs and the physical condition of its waters? Through sonification of dystopian realities of pollution with utopian aspirations for renewal “Purification” invites to question inherent biases within belief systems and fosters a broader dialogue about the complexities of perception and reality.

Excerpt of this work featured on Resonance FM ‘Sonic Darts Show’, UK.
